Tata nano turns E-Vehicle, Diesel/Petrol vehicle to be phased out

Gujarat Nov 27: In a Move to convert the existing car into electric vehicles Tata has decided to phase out the Nano which was brought as cheapest car. The car was initially priced Rs 1 lakh but later increased to Rs 2.5 lakh. Sources have stated the following reasons for the phasing out of the car.

Drop in Demand

The data released by the company shows that the number of units being sold in August 2016 was 711 in August 2016 and the demand dropped to 180 in August 2017 and further to a lower level of 57 in October 2017.

Focus on high-end models

The demand for high-end models such as Tiago (more than 6,200 units a month) and Tigor (around 2,300 units a month) has picked up and the company has shifted its production plant to Sanand in Gujarat and has abandoned Singur plant.

Launch of e-Vehicles

The company has decided to launch Tata Nano electric vehicle and has already tied up with Jayem Neo so the company has decided to phase out existing petrol and diesel vehicles.

Consumer complaints

Many customers have complained that the car is not suitable for 4 members because of its compact size and there were incidents that the cars caught fire and this led the customers to focus on high-end models in spite of higher costs as they felt that comfort was more important.
