Indian telecom Battle :Reliance Jio ensures Vodafone-Idea merger

Mumbai Nov 26: The entry of Reliance Jio in telecom sector last year has created a disruption and it has led to intense competition, consolidation, mergers, and exit of some operators.

Vodafone-Idea Merger: Vodafone India and Idea Cellular had agreed to merge their operations t worth more than $23 billion with a 35 percent market share. Currently, the operators are in No 2 and No 3 positions in the industry. Earlier Vodafone has acquired the Hutch telecom operator in 2008 and still the company faces legal taxation issues with respect to the deal.The combined entity would ensure that both brands would remain.

BSNL-MTNL Merger: Although both the companies are owned by the government.The merger has not yet been announced but there are speculations that both the companies would be merged soon so that the combined entity would utilize the resources well and the combined entity may be privatized in future as a part of government disinvestment policy.

Reliance Jio: The company is the biggest benefit as it pushed exits, mergers in the sector and the new launch of feature 4G phone has made the rivals to offer services at lower rates and the company believes that it is a healthy competition.
