NPPA reduces the prices of 51 essential drugs

NewDelhi Nov 26: In a Move to bring relief to the patients the NPPA has capped the prices of 51 essential formulations. Currently, The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) caps the prices of essential drugs and formulations used by patients.

The officials have said that "We have notified ceiling prices of 13 formulations while revising the same for 15 formulations. Retails prices of 23 essential formulations have also been notified ."

The prices have been reduced in the range of 6 to 53 %.

Some of the drugs whose prices have been capped include

# Drug oxilaplatin (injection, 100 mg) used for colon or rectal cancer treatment

# Japanese encephalitis vaccine

# measles and rubbela vaccines

# anesthetic sevoflurane

# Phytomenadione (Vitamin K1)

# Tuberculosis prevention BCG vaccine
