Govt to bring law against Triple Talaq Bill

New Delhi Nov 21: In a bid to grant relief to women and protect them the government has decided to bring a law to helps victims of Triple Talaq in the upcoming winter session of the parliament.

Union Minister has said that " We are likely to bring a legislation to provide shield and shelter to the victims suffering at the hands of their devious husbands".

Sources said that a ministerial committee has been constituted to draft the legislation and they draft would be ready within weeks later the bill would be approved by cabinet and it would be introduced in the parliament.

Govt hopes that this bill would be not objected by opposition parties because it would empower the woman and grant them their rights.

Earlier one of judges while giving a judgment to abolish the triple talaq has opined that it would be better if parliament approves a law to ban the practice.

The government officials said that the law would help the women and said that "Although the supreme court has abolished the practice still there are some legal challenges so women are still not finding justice and these challenges would be met either by amending existing laws or
by introducing a fresh law ".

Triple talaq is a practice where Muslim women are granted divorce upon the utterance of the word talaq 3 times and it doesn't require the consent of a woman.
