Aadhaar linking: Banks allowed to hire private data entry operators

In a major relief to banks, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI)-the Aadhaar-issuing body has allowed banks to hire private data entry operators and enrolment machines to speed up the enrollment processes in Aadhaar centres.

To make Aadhaar verification process of bank accounts convenient for the people, the Bank Aadhaar Kendras are being set up across the nation.

According to UIDAI stipulation, 43 private and public sector banks have to open Aadhaar enrolment and updation centres in 15,315 branches.

“They (banks) wanted some relaxation so that they could hire operators for data entry, and also hire the enrolment machines. So we have provided them with this relaxation. Now using that, Banks going ahead and setting up the (enrolment) stations and have assured that they will do this task as early as possible,” the UIDAI CEO added.
