Eid-e-Miladunnabi to be observed on December 2

Eid-e-Miladunnabi will be observed in the country on December 2, commemorating the birth of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBuH) on this day of the month of Rabiul Awal.

The National Moon Sighting Committee decided at the Islamic Foundation’s Baitul Mukarram conference room as the moon of Rabiul Awal of Hijri 1439 was not sighted in Bangladesh sky on Sunday.

The day is celebrated in Rabi’ al-awwal, the third month in the Islamic calendar. 12 Rabi’ al-awwal is the accepted date among most of the Sunni scholars, while Shi’a scholars regard 17 Rabi’ al-awwal as the accepted date.
