RBI to release the third list of 50 accounts to resolve NPAs

New Delhi Nov 17: In a move to ensure that the NPA problem is reduced and the bank's health is restored the Reserve Bank of India has prepared a list of 50 new companies which owe huge debts to the banks.

Sources said that the RBI has sent a new list of 50 accounts, out of which some are stressed accounts and rest are NPA to the banks.The apex bank also wants to resolve these accounts by March 31, 2018 .However, the amount of loans these companies owe to the bank have not been disclosed.

The list released by RBI is the 3rd such list earlier the bank has two list and in the first list has identified 12 major accounts which account for more than 25 % of NPAs.

In the second list released the central banks has identified 41 accounts and urged the banks to intiate proceedings against them.

Bankers have said that "Currently they have filed petitions in NCLT under IBC in most of the cases and more cases would be resolved soon under IBC".

However, they said that the New list of accounts may not be resolved by March next year as they are currently working on the lists released earlier.

Currently, the NPA has come down to Rs 7.3 L Cr in June 2017 as some companies have paid their debt partially.
