China govt urges people to replace Jesus portraits with Xi Jinping pictures

Beijing Nov 15: In a move to reform the country the Chinese government has ordered the rural population to replace the portraits of Jesus Christ with president Xi Jinping to avail the benefits of poverty alleviation schemes.

The data shows that currently 10 percent of the population living in the country are Christians and more than 11 percent of its one million residents live below the country's official poverty line.

Currently, the government has urged the people to replace the Jesus portraits with presidents potraits and said that "its the president who would be offering a helping hand to uplift them from poverty and not Jesus".

A survey has shown that most people have complied with the orders and have replaced the Jesus potraits and many more people are ready to replace the portraits.
