Telangana state passes Bill for improving ease of doing business

New Delhi Nov 10: The Telangana Legislative Assembly on Thursday passed three Bills to amend the existing Acts.

These include

# The Prevention of Dangerous Activities Act.

# Telangana Road Development Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2017.

# Shops an Establishments (Amendment) Act, 2017

The Telangana Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Bootleggers, Dacoits, Drug offenders, Goondas, Immoral traffic offenders and Landgrabbers (Amendment) Bill, 2017.

The bill aimed to expand the purview of the existing Act of by including several other offenses.

Amendments proposed in the bill

In the amendment, the government has included spurious seed offenders, insecticide offenders, fertiliser offenders, food adulteration offenders, fake document offenders, scheduled commodities offenders, forest offenders, gaming offenders, sexual offender, explosive substances offenders, arms offender, cyber crime offenders and white collar or financial offenders to be punished under its provisions.

However, the opposition members such as CPI, BJP and Congress have demanded to send the bill to select committee.The government denied the proposal and the parties staged the walkout.

Road Development Bill: Aims to raise the funds from financial institutions for the development of roads and highways in the state.

Shops and Establishment Act: To provide temporary licenses for shopkeepers within 24 hours and Permanent licenses would be issued within 30 days. The bill would help in ease of doing business in the state.
