Himachal Pradesh Election -BJP in High spirits as Rahul focuses on Gujarat

One of the Himalayan States Himachal Pradesh with its 50 lakh voters is today engaged in voting.Main Contending parties are ruling party congress and opposition party BJP.

Both the parties have deployed their candidates in 68 constituencies. Many other parties such as BSP and CPM are also participating in the state but these parties have little significance since voters from decades have given a clear majority to either BJP or Congress.

The results would be declared on Dec 18. Currently, the BJP has applied its full efforts to win the election as it wants to expand its footprints in the Himalayan states.PM Modi, Party president Amit Shah and several other central ministers have campaigned in the state.

On the Other hand, Congress party had given the responsibility of campaigning to the present chief Minister Virabadra Singh who is in deep trouble with lot many corruption charges floating around his neck.Congress Vice-president Rahul Gandhi has also shown little interest and he campaigned very late as his main focus was Gujarat elections.

The BJP hopes that the Caste-based voters would favor Prem Kumar Dhumal and the BJP has a strong base of Backward class voters. However, the Congress too tried its efforts to ride the anti-incumbency.

The Election Committee has introduced Voter verification paper slip which ensures that Voter can check whether he cast his vote rightly or not. This time the election campaign was more peaceful as both the parties campaigned on the agenda of development.
