Kadiyam Srihari about the amount spent on each student

TS Govt is spending Rs. 41,196 per student : Kadiyam Srihari

Hyderabad, Nov 8: The Telangana Deputy Chief Minister and Educational Minister Kadiyam Srihari asserted on Tuesday that the State Government is spending Rs. 41,196 per child on an average for providing quality education to students enrolled in primary, upper primary and high schools run by the Government/local bodies, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, model schools and those run by the Telangana Residential Educational Society during the year 2016-17.



Kadiyam Srihari said the spending per child had improved significantly since the formation of Telangana. The Government had spent Rs. 3,782 per child in 2004-05 and this had increased to Rs. 21,634 by 2014-15 and had almost doubled in the last two years.

The expenditure formed part of the Rs. 10,130.07 crore incurred during the financial year. This included expenditure on salaries of teachers and staff, infrastructure development and various components of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan, he said in reply to a query during the Question Hour in the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday.
