AP Senior Congress leader passed away

Krishna, Nov 8: The Andhra Pradesh Senior Congress leader and freedom fighter Singam Basavapunniah passed away on Tuesday night. He was 91 years old. He has been suffering from a serious illness for some time and has been hospitalized and died while taking treatment.

Singam Basavapunniah was born in Modumudi village of Krishna district and has pursued a lawyer profession.

In 1989, He was contested from Congress and won elections against TDP candidate Umama Reddy Venkateswarlu in Tennali parliamentary constituency. He served as an MP in the 9th Lok Sabha.

In the subsequent parliamentary elections, he lost against TDP candidate and film actress Sharada. For a long time, he has been away from active politics because of his old age. Many politicians have expressed condolences for the demise of Basavapunnaiah.
