Hyderabad, Nov 8: The Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has said on Tuesday the govt would distribute pattadar passbooks with 26 safety features to farmers on Republic Day. Survey of land in the urban areas would be taken up after that.
Replying to a short discussion on purification of land records, Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao said the passbooks would be like passports and be water- and tamper-proof.
He said 90 per cent purification of land records had been completed in 14 districts, and the work would be completed by December. Jagityal district topped the list with 99 per cent of purification of land records complete.
Mr. Rao said there were 10,885 revenue villages in the 2.76-crore acre of which 10,806 were in rural revenue villages.
A total of 60 per cent of land records had been purified. He said the survey was being done in two parts, the first phase involving land with clear titles. Land under dispute would be taken up later.
Reacting to a claim of Congress members, Mr Rao said under the Congress governments, 2,93,654 applications had been received regarding sada binami lands and 11,653 were cleared after collecting a fee.
The TRS government had received 11,19,111 applications and cleared 6,18,368 free. He said details of lands grabbed by slain gangster Nayeemuddin would come out in the survey.
