New Delhi, Nov 3: Three members of interstate peddlers were arrested and 438 kg pseudoephedrine drug valued at over Rs 50 crore in the international market seized from them, police said on Friday.

Police said Myanmar national Sum Mang, and Sumit Kumar and Sunil Goyal of Delhi and Noida respectively were supplying drugs for the last six months in Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) and northeastern states.

Pseudoephedrine, a sympathomimetic drug used as nasal/sinus decongestant and a stimulant, can be misused as a wakefulness-promoting agent in higher doses and is mainly consumed in rave parties.

The three were arrested between October 31 and November 2 in police raids.

Sumit was arrested when he arrived at the New Delhi railway station with 340 kg pseudoephedrine for booking parcels bound for Guwahati in Assam. At his instance, Sum Mang and Sunil were arrested from the west and east Delhi with 98 kg drug, Deputy Commissioner of Police P.S. Kushwah said.

A fake Indian voter identity card and a PAN card were seized from Sum Mang who initially identified himself as an Indian, he said.

The arrested persons said pseudoephedrine was supplied to northeastern states from where it was further sent to Myanmar to prepare methamphetamine or crystal meth for rave parties, the officer added.
