Andhra CM Naidu urges CRDA official to make the city as slum-free

Vijayawada, Nov 3: The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has given instructions to the officials of AP Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) on Thursday to take steps to make the Vijayawada city as a slum-free city.

The CRDA officials met the Chief Minister at his residence here on Thursday and discussed various issues and development projects with him.

Mr Naidu directed the CRDA officials to ensure that there should not be any slums in Vijayawada city and asked them to include waterways and canals in a network. "Special Purpose Vehicles can be introduced for this purpose. No other state capital has this advantage", he said.

Officials explained the Chief Minister that almost 70 per cent of the projects in Amaravati have successfully passed the tender stage, and are now in the grounding stage.

CRDA Commissioner Cherukuri Sreedhar informed the Chief Minister that the progress on bringing the hotels is also reaching a good pace, as around 10 hotels have confirmed their developers and presence in the city. "By 2020, Amaravati will surely have 1200 rooms available across hotels", Mr Sreedhar told Mr Naidu.

Minister of Municipal Administration P Narayana, Principal Secretaries Ajay Jain and Satish Chandra and Chairman & Managing Director of Amaravati Development Corporation Lakshmi Parthasarathi were also present.
