Medical Tourism -to boost Foreign Income

The prosperity of a country and its people is directly connected to its financial well being. In attracting foreign currency there are also many sectors. Of those, the medical tourism aspect attracts more number of tourists as India has an ethical, cultural base and highly educated medical experts.

Many patients arrive in India because of highly competitive and global level hospitals and the cost of treatment is low compared to other countries such as America, Britain.

The government programme AYUSH is versatile.The government has also taken steps to ease the mediacal visa regulations and Recently external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj has announced that all Pakistani patients would be granted medical visas whose applications are pending.

The government has also focused on improving infrastructure and emphasis was laid on improving tourist experience by setting up Indian traditional methods such as Ayurvedic treatment and Yoga centers.

Currently, the government is focussing on imparting skills required to boost the tourism and is on a mission to create more yoga teachers and health specialists, translators so that there stay can become pleasant in the country.

However, challenges remain for the government to promote major cities as Medical tourists Hub. These can be overcome by mapping the needs of the patients with the resources available and a creation of database
based on the availability of doctors and diagnostic facilities available in hospitals so that more number of foreign tourists flee to India and the country can earn a huge foreign income.
