BJP Announces Himachal Pradesh CM Candidate

New Delhi, October 31: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today announced Prem Kumar Dhumal as its chief ministerial candidate for the poll-bound Himachal Pradesh.

The announcement was made by party president Amit Shah during his rally in Himachal Pradesh today.

A two-time chief minister, Dhumal's name was declared by BJP president.

The BJP had, in the past few elections, not declared its chief ministerial candidates. The cases in point are Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, where the party waited until the results were out.

The prime MInister also tweeted that, " Dhumal Ji is among our senior-most leaders with rich administrative experience in Himachal. He will once again make a wonderful CM"

"I thank my high command, workers, and people of Himachal Pradesh. Congress asked their high command for a groom, but BJP has provided the groom," said Dhumal.

The 73-year-old leader will now challenge Congress' Virbhadra Singh in a direct fight to be held on November 9.
