GOM:MRP must include GST,deadline for filing returns extended

New Delhi Oct 31: The Group of state Finance Ministers set up to ensure a smooth transition of GST has suggested that Maximum Retail price (MRP) must include GST. Officials have said that the comittee has suggested that "it would be mandatory for restaurants, malls, and other shopping outlets to ensure that the maximum retail price of goods and services includes GST."

Sources say that the committee has suggested this recommendation because many people have complained that shopkeepers, owners at malls and restaurants are charging above MRP citing the new tax regime.the government may take up this issue in next meeting and also order that selling Items above is an offense and can be punishable.

The GoM also suggested lowering the fees for the delayed filing of returns to Rs 50 a day from Rs 100.



Date extended for filing returns

The government on Monday extended the date for filing of July GSTR-2 to by a month to November 30 and GSTR-3 to December 11. the last date was for filing GSTR-2 was October 31, and GSTR-3 was November 11.

GSTR-2 is purchase returns that would be matched with GSTR-1 which is the sales return.GSTR-3 is a final return which would be filed after matching form of GSTR-1 and 2.
