China Tunnel proposal on Brahmaputra river-An Arm Twisting Tact

Our neighboring country China always creates problems to us in a very stealthy way. Its political moves and tactical military moves push India to a tight position. As if the recent stalemate was not enough now it wants to create river water problem. In addition from Tibet, China wants to build 1000 km tunnel to avail water flow for its desert-like area.

The country wants to divert the Brahmaputra river water from Tibet into xinjang which is a dryland .the country hopes that construction of such a long tunnel would bring greenery.

It is always doubtful whether China proposes a great project out of real necessity or with ulterior motives. From the 1962 war itself the cunning China's intentions were a bit unimaginable .At that time in the name of "Panch Sheel", it invaded Indian land.Still some part of our land is under that country's hold.

The political ideology is to much extent responsible for this iron fist in gloves mentality. To materialise this great project tunnel china earmarks nearly $150 bn.In 2010 there was similar proposal though not so big came from that side and India showed its displeasure. The china assured to stop such pleasure.

With this tunnel certain lands in Bangladesh, India wouldn't receive water and it would be a loss for both these countries.Sources report that China has already started constructing a 600 km tunnel in the initial phases.

Environmentalists have opined that storing water in large tunnels would damage the environment and the risk of floods would increase and large-scale devastation may take place if accidents diasters take place.

This could be a political strategy of China to keep India in tenterhooks. The worldwide relations between nations are quickly changing. So we have to wait and see how things will turnout.
