Telangana launches Digital Study Kit (DiSK) for students

Hyderabad, Oct 28: The Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) launched the Digital Study Kit (DiSK) on Friday which will help students prepare for regular and competitive examinations. The DiSK, developed by CloudEdz, was launched by Kadiyam Srihari, Telangana deputy chief minister and education minister along with A Ashok, secretary of TSBIE.

The DiSK is an interactive study mobile-based application and web portal for students. The kit comprises textbooks, study material, video lessons, assessments and multiple-choice questions.

The kit is designed to be a one-stop solution for all needs of intermediate students. It will not only help students prepare for the intermediate exam but also for other competitive exams such as national eligibility-cum-entrance test, joint entrance examination, engineering agriculture medical common entrance test to name a few.

The app is offered free of cost to government college students and at a nominal fee of Rs 325 per year for other students. The TSBIE had signed a memorandum of understanding with CloudEdz earlier this year. As per the MoU, of the Rs 325, Rs 100 will be paid to TSBIE as royalty.

Speaking at the launch Srihari said, "This initiative will help students get access to quality learning and at the same time help them prepare for competitive exams at a national level. DiSK will also cut down costs associated with buying of books for competitive exam preparation." He was hopeful that the application will soon be extended for other courses as well in future.

The kit is available in two languages - English and Telugu and can be downloaded on any smartphone. "All the study material available in DiSK has been certified by experts from Board of Intermediate Education and the Telugu Academy," said Ashok.

Officials said that Telangana is the first state in the country to have developed and launched such an application and portal where students will be able to study without having an internet connection.

"Our objective while building this application was to ensure the app is simple and intuitive. The application aims to create a student-centric learning environment that will help them perform better," said Y Sumanth Rao, chief executive officer of CloudEdz.
