BJP leader caught on camera while assaulting his wife

Agra, Oct 28: In a shocking incident, A senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker was caught on a CCTV camera while assaulting his wife. The incident took place in the Shivalik apartment of New Lawyers Colony under New Agra police jurisdiction on Thursday evening.

In the six-minute-long CCTV footage, the saffron man, identified as Vinay Sharma, is clearly seen raining slaps on his wife, Nupur Sharma, hitting her with a wooden stick and dragging her out of the apartment by grabbing her hair lock, while she tries to run back into the apartment.

Police have booked the accused husband under sections 323, 504 and 506 of the IPC. The couple had love marriage in court in the year 2014 and had a two-year-old son.

According to Nupur Sharma, "He came with at least ten men and brutally assaulted me and torn my clothes. He took my son."

When media asked, why Vinay assaulted her, she said, "Every day Vinay drink alcohol and assaults me. He accused me of having an illicit relationship. For last three years, I have trying to be a good wife and do not even interact with any neighbor. I remained silent till date, but now I won't keep quiet. I have filed a complaint against him."

Contrary to Nupur claims, Vinay in a written complaint to police said, "I have filed section 9 of Hindu marriage act in Agra family court against my wife. She stole jewelry, cash and even conspired to kill me. She had attempted to abduct my son."

Vinay Sharma is said to be well known among senior BJP and right-wing leaders.
