Bad Rabbit new ransomware attacks

Washington, October 27: Everyone knows about ransomware attack on computers that destroys all the data, A new ransomware worm dubbed "Bad Rabbit" began spreading across the world Tuesday (Oct. 24), and it appeared to be a much-modified version of the NotPetya worm that hit eastern Europe in June.

This marks the third time this year when a global ransomware epidemic has used cyber-weapons developed by the NSA and leaked online by a group of hackers going by the name of The Shadow Brokers.

'The Bad Rabbit' ransomware was first spotted on Tuesday after infecting three large media outlets in Russia. Since then, researchers have seen the Bad Rabbit ransomware spread, though the majority of the victims have been in Russia and Ukraine.

Although the attacks are recent, Yonathan Klijnsma, threat researcher at RiskIQ, a digital threat management company headquartered in San Francisco, noted that the infrastructure supporting Bad Rabbit and the initial compromise may have happened long ago.
