Rajasthan increased reservation- Gujjar, Banjara, Gadia etc

On Thursday, the Rajasthan assembly passed a bill of reservation raising the percentage from 21 to 26 for the Other Backward Caste (OBC). But with this the Supreme court limit on reservation to 50 percent is crossed as the total reservation now would be 54 percent.

Five percent reservation is given to most backward classes of Rajasthan that include Gujjar/Gurjar, Banjara/Baldia/Labana, Gadia-Lohar/Gadalia, Raika/Rebari and Gadaria. These caste were treated under special backward classes (SBC) but were later merged with OBC.

The Rajasthan Backward Classes (Reservation of Seats in Educational Institutions in the State and of Appointment and Posts in Services under the State) Bill, 2017, now grants five percent reservation to theses five classes
