Petition against Kamal Haasan on dengue medicine tweet

Kamal Haasan might face criminal charges against one of his recent tweets in which he urged his fans not to distribute nilavembu kudineer considering the controversy over its efficiency to prevent dengue. Nilavembu kudineer is a herbal medicine to prevent spread of dengue.

On Wednesday, the Madras high court directed the Chennai city police to register a case against Kamal Haasan if prima facie offence is made out.

The Madras court passed the order on a petition moved by an advocate clerk, G Devarajan. The petitioner, in the petition, stated that the actor had urged his fans to not distribute nilavembu claiming that it has side effects.

The petition states that it is not clear on what basis has the actor declared that the medicine have side effects. “If the actor had consumed nilavembu kudineer and suffered any such adverse side effects, he should have furnished proper details of such effects while making such statement,” it states.
