Shahid Yusuf son of Salahuddin arrested in Terror funding

Syed Salahuddin, who hails from Jammu and Kashmir but has lived in Pakistan for years is known to maintain close ties with the Pakistani military-intelligence set-up, has been declared as global terrorist by US.

On Tuesday, Syed Shahid Yusuf, son of Syed Salahuddin has been arrested by National Investigation Agency (NIA) for receiving an amount of Rs 3.4 lakh through hawala from Pakistan via Saudi Arabia. This amount was transferred to him through Western Union in seven transactions. NIA has accused him of terror funding case.



He was arrested after rounds of questioning by the investigating agency over the amount received between 2011 and 2014. Two SIM cards were recovered from him in Srinagar which were sent for forensic analysis that have confirmed multiple phone call conversations between Yusuf and Eijaz Ahmed, a declared absconder.
On the basis of these phone calls and receipts from Western Union Money Transfer, Yusuf was questioned but he could not explain the source of these funding.

Yusuf works in the horticulture department of the Jammu and Kashmir government.
