Asia Cup hockey final: India Beat Malaysia to become 3rd champion

Dhaka, October 22: India beat first time Malaysia 2-1 in a thrilling final to win the 2017 Asia Cup Hockey tournament held in Dhaka, Bangladesh on Sunday.

This was India's third continental title and also This was Malaysia's first final at the Asia Cup. Earlier in the Super 4 stage, India had produced a brilliant performance to beat Malaysia 6-2.



On Saturday, India continued their unbeaten run in the tournament as they registered a convincing 4-0 win over arch-rivals Pakistan in a Super 4 encounter to book their place in the final.

India managed to hold on to their lead to deny Malaysia their first Asia Cup title. Lalit Upapdhyay won the goal of the match award while Akashdeep Singh was adjudged the Man of the match.
