Telangana Health Minister assures treatment for victims of Diwali crackers

Hyderabad, Oct 21: In the celebrations of Diwali festival, around 50 people have sustained eye injuries while they were bursting crackers.

The Telangana Health Minister Dr. K. Lakshma Reddy has assured that the better treatment was being provided to people who got injured while bursting crackers on Diwali festival.

While speaking to media persons here on Friday, Lakshma Reddy said at least 30 people suffered damage or injuries to their eyes while bursting crackers on Thursday night. All of them have been referred to Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital. Of them, 12 have been admitted while six persons needed surgeries.

He said surgery has been performed on one patient and remaining surgeries would also be done soon. Other victims were treated as out-patients.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad District Medical & Health Officer Dr.Padmaja informed that a total of 47 persons suffered eye injuries during Diwali celebrations.
