Calcutta high court restrained pull out of CRPF after State plea

The Union home ministry had earlier informed the state that atleast 15 out of the 20 deployed companies of CRPF will be withdrawn from the state. The state saw a political motive behind pulling out CRPF from the state which is yet to get normal after a summer-long unrest triggered by the Gorkhaland secessionist movement.

“The decision was unfortunate, unethical, undemocratic and unconstitutional,” Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee said on Monday.

The Calcutta high court after hearing the plea of State found no sufficient reason for withdrawal of the force. Hence has temporarily restrained the Union government on Tuesday from withdrawing paramilitary reinforcements. The court even observed that the forces were deployed by an order from the Supreme Court.
