Hyderabad OCt 16: Diwali is an auspicious festival celebrated by many Hindus all across the worlds.The festival is also called Festival of Lights.People believe that the festival brings prosperity in the lives of the people.

Rituals Performed: Bussiness People and traders perform Lakshmi Puja on this day. Many couples perform Satyanarayana Ratha on this day and they keep fast. Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped by chanting special shlokas to embrace her.People decorate the houses the surroundings by placing Lamps.

Mythological story: The Celebration of Diwali has its origins in Treta Yuga. Many people celebrate the Diwali to welcome Lord Rama to his birthplace Ayodhya after he defeated Lord Ravana in Sri Lanka.The people of Ayodhya have decorated the streets and homes by lighting lamps to indicate the victory of good over evil.

Currently, many people burn crackers in the night as an expression of happiness on the festival.The Diwali is celebrated on the no-moon day (Amavasya) of Ashwin Month.
