Congress alleges PM Modi Influenced EC to defer Gujarat Polls

Gujarat, OCT 13: The Congress party yesterday has alleged that PM Modi has influenced the Election Commission to delay the Polling in the Gujarat. The Congress has also said that EC acted unfairly when it had only announced the polling dates for Himachal Pradesh and not Gujarat.

The opposition has said that "the announcement of the EC deviates from the practice of announcing poll dates together for states where elections are due around the same time. The terms of the present Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh assemblies end two weeks apart."

They have also said that PM is not ready for polls and he has urged the EC to defer the polls so that he would influence the voters by announcing some populists schemes which otherwise cannot be announced if Model code of conduct comes into place.

However, BJP has hit back at the comments and said that "Congress statements on Gujarat poll dates are unfortunate ".
