Municipal corporation elections: Congress sweeping victory in Nanded-Waghala

The Congress registered a great victory in Nanded-Waghala municipal corporation elections, the home turf of state party chief Ashok Chavan. The congress got 57 seats and a lead in another 10 seats. The Congress has 41 members, Shiv Sena has 14, followed by 11 of AIMIM and Nationalist Congress party has 10.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) bagged four seats, while the Shiv Sena has won one seat so far. Polls registered 64.82% voting, and BJP got the shock with just four seats. RSS has won one seat.

Chavan said people voted in favour of development. “The BJP got candidates without verifying their credentials. This has cost them dearly,” Ashok Chavan said.
