Himachal Pradesh Assembly polls announced- important dates

Himachal Pradesh Assembly polls dates have been announced by Election Commission today. However, the dates of Gujarat Assembly polls have not been announced yet which were to take place at the same time as Himachal polls.

Himachal Pradesh Assembly will be held in one phase
1)Voting will be held on November 9.
2)Counting of votes is scheduled on December 18.
3)Filing of Nomination for Polls will start from
October 16.
4)Final date of filing Nomination is October 23.
5)Scrutiny of nomination papers will be on October 24.
6)Last date of withdrawal of nomination is October 26.

"The arrangement has been made to make sure that the election in one state does not affect the outcome of the other state," the Chief Election Commissioner AK Joti said.

"We will have VVPATs along with EVMs. The height of voting compartments will be increased to 30 inches," said CEC AK Jyoti on Himachal Pradesh polls.
