Shocking News to Liquor Lovers

Chennai, October 12: The Tamil Nadu government decided to increase liquor prices at a Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday.

The Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC) is affecting a hike in liquor price after a gap of three years. Official sources said the hike would come into effect within a day or two. There will be no change in prices of beer.

The hike to be affected is as follows: There are three categories of liquor as per quality — ordinary, medium and premium. While a quarter bottle (180ml) of ordinary liquor now costs Rs 88 would be hiked to Rs 100, the price of medium variety would go up from Rs 100 to Rs 110. Premium variety of liquor cost ranging from Rs 120 to Rs 380 now will be hiked by Rs 10 per variety.

Earlier, The Tamil Nadu Govt approved the Seventh Pay Commission recommendations which will benefit more than ten lakh government employees and teachers in the state.
