NTR Park to be redevolped for 125 Feet Ambedkar Statue

Hyderabad OCT 12: A sub-committee formed by government for establishment of Ambedkar statue has proposed to dismantle NTR Garden to make way for the proposed Ambedkar Park with a 125-foot statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

Sources said that under the current proposal only the NTR Samadhi area will remain on NTR Marg, next to the existing Secretariat.

The sub-committee headed by Deputy CM K Srihari has also decided to install the statue in NTR Garden and to redevelop the park which currently has a play zone, toy train, eateries and an amusement area.

The sub-committee has estimated that the cost of the statue will be about Rs 70 crore and one acre land would be required for the basement of the 125-foot statue.

However, the report is yet to be submitted and the committee has also discussed the issue with HMDA officials and a final decision would be taken soon.
