CM KCR to launch 24x7 power supply scheme to agriculture

Hyderabad, Oct 11: The Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao will formally inaugurate the 400/220/132 KV sub-station at Suryapet on Thursday, marking the launch of 24/7 power supply to agriculture in the State.

However, the 24/7 power supply will commence in next year February to meet the Rabi season needs. The TS Transco and affiliated power distribution companies are already implementing 24/7 power supply scheme for agriculture in Medak, Karimnagar, and Nalgonda districts on a pilot basis.

A power supply network is being developed at a cost of Rs 12,610 crore across Telangana to facilitate round the clock power supply for agriculture. The sub-station to be inaugurated by the Chief Ministers is part of power supply network.

TS Transco and TS Genco Chairman and Managing Director D Prabhakar Rao informed the Chief Minister on Wednesday that the power distribution and generation companies are ready to roll out the 24/7 power supply scheme shortly.

Besides improving the power supply network, the officials are expecting a 50 percent increase in current demand of 9,600 MW after launching 24/7 power supply scheme. Necessary arrangements are being made to increase power generation to meet future requirements.
