Diwali :people Prefer Indian products,Chinese goods sales to drop by 50 %

Mumbai Oct 10: In a move to improve the Indian economy and celebrate the Diwali festival with fervor many people have decided to buy Indian products this festive season and boycott Chinese goods. This Diwali, Chinese items such as lights, gift items, lamps and wall hangings among others could see a decline of up to 45 percent said industry chamber Assocham.

Assocham Secretary general D.S. Rawat has said that "There has been a 40-45 percent impact on goods like decorative lights which records huge sales during Diwali, whereas a slight impact has also been seen on China-made electronic goods like mobile phones etc."

He has also added that "the demand for electronic items like LCDs, mobile phones and others items made in China has also declined by
15-20 percent".

Trade associations have said that many customers are preferring Indian firecrackers made in Sivakasi Tamilnadu compared to Chinese crackers.

Experts said that recent standoff between India and China at Doklam and quality of Chinese items have forced many people to prefer Indian products.
