Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah orders BBMP to fix 15,000 potholes in 10 days

Bengaluru, Oct 10: In a bid to improve the safety of passengers Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has set a deadline of 10 days for Bengaluru's municipal corporation, BBMP, to repair all potholes in the city after three people were killed in a week in road accidents due
to potholes.

CM has said that "I have instructed the commissioner of the corporation to fill up the potholes in 10 days. All the potholes should be filled up or else we will investigate and take action against the people responsible".

The chief minister's instruction assumes significantly because recently third victim, Radha Ajanappa, was killed on Sunday morning. Ajanappa was riding pillion on a scooter with her nephew Ravi Kumar when the accident happened near Nayandahalli Junction on Mysuru Road.



The 52-year-old woman was thrown from a truck when Kumar lost control while negotiating a pothole. She died on the spot, while her nephew sustained minor injuries in the accident. Her family has accused the Karnataka government of negligence.

Earlier two others were killed in a road accident in a similar manner trying to avoid a pothole when they were hit by a Tamil Nadu road transport bus. Sources said that currently, 15000 potholes are present on the roads of Bengaluru.
