Simona Halep enters China Open Final and secures world No 1

Bejing Oct 7: Simona Halep has become the no 1 in the world for the first time after she has entered the final of the China Open as she beat Latvia's Jelena Ostapenko 6-2, 6-4. The official rankings would be released next week. The Romanian player has overcome Spaniard Garbine Muguruza.

For Halep victory against Ostapenko was revenge because she has won their duel in the French Open final earlier this year.



The 26-year-old Halep, will face either Caroline Garcia of France or Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic in Sunday's final in the Chinese capital.The win in the final will ensure her the taste of Grand slam success.
