AP students to get extra marks who participate in Swachh mission

Vijayawada, Oct 6: Generally, The students can get extra marks for good handwriting and extracurricular activities.In this manner, Andhra Students can get extra marks, who will be participated in Swachh Bharat mission.

In this aspect, The rural development, panchayat raj and IT minister Nara Lokesh took up the proposal on Thursday at the secretariat. He directed officials of Swachh Andhra Corporation to keep track of students who take part in the Swachh mission.

The Andhra Pradesh government is exploring a proposal to allot five extra marks to students of class 9 and above who participate in the Swachh Bharat initiative and help the state government build 21 lakh toilets required to achieve 100% Open Defecation Free (ODF) status by March 2019.

"We want the students to help us identify the households without toilets and also encourage their parents to build toilets if they don't have one," Muralidhar Reddy, managing director of Swachh Andhra Corporation, said

He also said Officials are planning to rope in engineering students to help design the toilets according to an area's requirement and medical students to help spread awareness about cleanliness.
