Gujarat:Dalit man beaten to death for watching Garba

Patel community members beat up a 21 year old dalit man for watching a Garba event in a temple at Anand district. The deceased has been identified as Jayesh Solanki. Jayesh along with his cousin Prakash and two other Dalit men was sitting near a temple where garba event was going on.

The upper caste members didn't liked that the dalits were sitting so close to the temple and they passed derogatory remarks on them.

A police officer at the Bhadran Police Station said, "The accused said Dalits "do not have any right to watch garba . He made casteist remarks and asked some men to come to the spot."

Jayesh was beaten up along with his friend and cousin, his head was banged against a wall. He was decalred brought dead at the hospital.
