Rajasthan: Funds given for non-existing Toilets; money is siphoned off

The story of non existing Toilets is similar to the movie story of Toilet-Ek prem katha, like in the movie , government files shows toliets built in Rajasthan, but no one knows where the Toilets are.

People from villages which are declared as open defecation free still go to fields in the morning to relieve themselves.

There are evidence of funds siphoned off at the ground level. In Rajasthan, the government pays Rs 12,000 to every person who constructs a toilet in his/her home.Instances of rewards being handed out for non-operational or half-constructed toilets, multiple members of the same family being rewarded for one Toilet came in light. Villagers talking about giving officials share from funds received also increases doubts.
