NRI Devotee presents golden garland worth Rs.8 Crores to Lord Venkateswara

Tirupati, Sept 24: In a shocking news, An NRI philanthropist Manthena Ramalinga Raju has presented "Sahasra Nama Kasula Haram" (golden garland) worth Rs 8 crore and weighing around 28 kg to Lord Venkateswara here on Saturday.

The garland contained as many as 1008 golden coins with Lord Venkateswara's name inscribed on them.

The NRI devotee handed over the golden garland to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandra Babu Naidu at Ranganayakula Mandapam. The CM lauded the donor for his largesse.

Earlier, CM Chandrababu Naidu offered silk vastrams to Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala temple on behalf of the state government.

It is a usual practice to offer the presentation to the Lord by the head of the state on the first day of annual Brahmotsavams of Tirumala.

State Endowment Minister Manikyala Rao and others were also present during the occasion.
