Clash between GMP and IPFT groups, Tripura journalist stabbed to death

Gana Mukti Parishad (GMP), the tribal wing of the ruling CPI-M, were yesterday injured in a clash with the Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT) at Chhankhola area of Khowai district, about 40 km from Agartala. Over hundred were injured when IPFT workers attacked them with sticks and iron rods.
The clash took place when the Parishad supporters gathered at the bus stand at Khowai town to travel to Agartala for a GMP rally. A journalist from a local TV news channel was today abducted and hacked to death in West Tripura district while covering the agitation and road blockade by the Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT).
The local administration has imposed Section 144 of the Indian Penal Code.
