National Health Mission Helps India to Acheive Millenium Developmental Goals

New Delhi, Sept 20: Union Health Minister JP Nadda has briefed the media about the progress and achievements of the National Health Mission and various other Aspects

# Achievement of Millenium Developmental Goals

1) the country has achieved the MDG-4 of under 5 mortality rate of 43 in 2015.

2)MDG-5 relating to maternity mortality rate MMR has been achieved. The decline in IMR, MMR has been doubled because of National Health Mission

3) MDG -6 relates to halting and reversing of Malaria, Tuber Culosis and HIV has been achieved

4)Total Fertility Rate would be reduced to 2.1 by 2017 end from 2.3

Free Drugs and Diagnostic Facility has been launched. 600 drugs will be given for free at the district hospital and many diagnostic centers would be set up.

Bio-Medical equipment maintenance:

Under the scheme, funds would be released for annual maintenance of 7.56 lakh biomedical devices present in the India. 130 crores would be released. New vaccines for Measles, Rubella, Rota Virus have been rolled out.

Millenium Developmental Goals are the goals with measurable targets and clear deadlines for improving the lives of the world's poorest people. To meet these goals and eradicate poverty, leaders of 189 countries signed the historic millennium declaration at the United Nations Millennium Summit in 2000. The deadline for achieving these goals was 2015.
