HC notices to Andhra CM and 57 others

Hyderabad, Sept 19: The Common Division Bench Hyderabad High Court has issued notices to Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and 57 others on Tuesday for illegal constructions in the floodplains of Krishna river.
Following a petition filed by Mangalagiri MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy, the High Court issued the notices and directed them to file counter petitions within three weeks.
MLA Ramakrishna Reddy stated in his petition that the river front guest house of the Chief Minister was in violation of the River Conservancy Act, 1884.
It may noted here that the chief minister's current residence was illegally constructed on the Krishna river flood plains in blatant violation of laws that govern the protection of rivers. He had leased the residence from Lingamaneni Group. Other illegal constructions in the area belong to Lingamaneni Ramesh, Narsapuram MP Gogaraju Gangaraju and naturopathy practitioner Manthena Satyanarayana Raju.
