Tamil Nadu governor meets Rajnath Singh amid political churning

New Delhi, September 19: Ahead of the political crisis in Tamil Nadu, Governor C. Vidyasagar Rao met the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday. A day after 18 rebel AIADMK MLAs loyal to sidelined leader T.T.V. Dhinakaran was disqualified under the anti-defection law.

According to the official's sources, the Governor is believed to have apprised the Home Minister about the current political developments in the southern state, during 20 minutes meeting. Rao arrived in Delhi on Monday and met President Ramnath Kovind and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

Opposition parties and disgruntled AIADMK legislators have urged the governor to immediately take a majority test in the House.
