Shradh 2017 (Pitru Paksha): end tomorrow; Maha-Amavasya; Durga Ashtami

Shradh 2017 which started on 5th September will end tomarrow i.e on 19th September, 2017. Shradh rites liberate souls from the vicious circle of life and death and help them attain salvation is believed by many Hindus. Pitru Paksha is an important occasion, on this day, kheer(sweet dish) is made in homes, pundits are given dakshina and clothes.
After Pitru Paksha ends Maha-Amavasya will be on September 20 this year. After which Durga Ashtami will start, on 21st September, Devotees, worship 9 forms of Durga on each of these 9 days of Navratri. The eight day of Navratri is called Ashtami, and several Hindus consider the day to be the most important day of all the 9 days.
