Hyderabad Metro Rail allocates numbering to Metro pillars

Hyderabad, Sept 17: The Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) authorities have decided to give a unique numbering to Metro Rail pillars and link them with Google maps and GPS (Global Position System) here on Sunday.

It is to make it convenient for citizens to easily identify different locations on metro rail corridors and direction signage for different roads, areas, and colonies nearby, according to HMR Managing Director N.V.S. Reddy.

Following a brain storming session held in the Metro Rail Bhavan with the L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad (L&TMRH) and others, it was decided that the numbering of metro pillars would be alpha-numeric with corridor I (Miyapur-LB Nagar) designated as 'A', corridor II (JBS-Falaknuma) designated as 'B' and corridor III (Nagole-Raidurg) designated as 'C', he said.

The numbering is to begin from the Point of Beginning (POB) corridor-wise like the pier numbers on corridor I will be A1 near Miyapur (corridor beginning), A450 near Ameerpet station, A769 near MGBS station and A1108 near LB Nagar.

Similarly, corridor 2 numbers will be B1 near JBS (corridor beginning), B152 near Musheerabad station, B196 near RTC X Roads station, B356 near MGBS station, and B588 near Falaknuma depot. Numbers for corridor III will be C1 near Nagole bridge (corridor beginning), C296 near Mettuguda, C583 near Begumpet, C623 near Ameerpet, C1001 near Hitec city, and C1052 near Riadurg.

Presently, there are 2,531 pillars across the three corridors, excluding the the MGBS-Falaknuma stretch in the old city, and any future expansion of corridors would be having D, E, F etc.
