Narmada Bachao Andolan leader Medha Patkar on jal satyagrah

Medha Patkar is on 'jal satyagrah' along with 40 other women in Barwani district , She has accused the government for releasing water from Indira Sagar and Omkareshawar dams for filling Sardar Sarovar dam. Medha Patkar said Indira Sagar and Omkareshawar doesnot even have optimum level water but water is being released to fill Sardar Sarovar dam which is going to be inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi on his birthday and will be dedicated to the people of Gujarat.

The backwater from Sardar Sarovar dam had entered many houses and had submerged many areas in Barwani where the government has asked the people to vacate their houses but didn’t give any compensation. Medha Patkar and her supporters are on 'jal satyagrah' and said they will not move from the water submerged areas at any cost.
