Kulbhushan Jadhav case: India submits response at ICJ

Hague, Netherlands, Sept 14: India has submitted its response in the International Court of Justice ICJ in Kulbhushan Jadhav case.Recently a 4 member team of Indian government has handed over India's memorial, consisting of a written submission to the registrar office at the ICJ at Hague.

The official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has said:"India yesterday submitted its Memorial (written pleadings) to the International Court of Justice in the Jadhav case involving egregious violation of Vienna Convention on Consular Relations 1963 by Pakistan. This is in furtherance of our application filed before the Court on May 8, 2017."

Sources said that the Pakistan will submit counter memorial on or before December 13, 2017. Earlier the ICJ has asked India to submit its response before September 13 and passed an interim order that Pakistan cannot hang the prisoner till the further orders.



Pakistan this year has arrested Kulbhushan Jadhav and passed a death Sentence to him alleging that he was a spy. However, India has claimed that he is a former Indian Navy officer and has stepped the International Court of Justice.

Finally, MEA spokespersons have said that being a protocol measure we cannot disclose the details of the submission made by the country.
